The ANZ Consumer Confidence Index for Australia is a survey of consumer confidence over the most recent week, typically reflecting public sentiment regarding past and upcoming financial events. The index is based on online or telephone interviews conducted by the issuing organization with approximately 1,500 Australian households. The survey is currently conducted Monday through Sunday (previously only on Saturdays and Sundays), and is released the following Tuesday. Sub-indicators include: consumer assessment of their current financial situation compared to one year ago, consumer assessment of their financial situation over the next year, consumer expectations for the economy over the next year, consumer expectations for the economy over the next five years, and consumer expectations for inflation over the next two years.
