Early on November 8th local time, a traffic accident occurred in Tampa, Florida, USA. A speeding car lost control, struck pedestrians, and crashed into shops, resulting in at least 4 deaths and 11 injuries. The 22-year-old driver, Silas Sampson, has been detained at the scene. The vehicle had previously been spotted participating in illegal street racing on multiple occasions. At the time of the accident, the driver was speeding on Interstate 275. After police attempts to stop him failed, the car veered into the city, causing the tragedy. The Tampa Police Chief called the incident "a senseless tragedy" and stated that justice would be sought for the victims and their families.

Transportation Secretary Duffy announced on the 5th that starting from the 7th, capacity at 40 busy airports across the US would be reduced by 10%. On the 6th, the FAA ordered airlines to gradually reduce domestic flights, initially by 4% on the 7th. If the shutdown continues, the reduction will increase to 6% by the 11th and to 10% by the 14th.
