Definition
The planting rate represents the percentage data of the "current planting quantity" of each crop to the "estimated total planting area for the current year". Due to the seasonality of commodities, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) may not report throughout the year. Once the USDA shifts the "planting" details of the crop to the "condition" details, the planting records will stop being updated, and the growth condition records will start to be updated.
Impact on Market
Why It Matters
The higher the soybean planting rate, the closer the planting task is to completion. Planting is the first step in production and a positive signal for yield. Theoretically, it tends to be bearish for soybean prices. FX678 and 1QH remind that according to the parameters of international authoritative media, the correlation of this indicator with it is 66%.
