[New faces in Peruvian politics: the new presidium of the Congress takes office] ⑴ The Peruvian Congress held a plenary session on July 26 and elected members of the new presidium of the Congress. ⑵ Subsequently, the new presidium was officially sworn in on the same day, marking the arrival of a new leadership in Peruvian politics. ⑶ José Yeri from the "We Are Peru" party was elected as the president of the Congress for 2025-2026. ⑷ The meeting also elected three vice-presidents, namely Fernando Rospigliosi, Valdemar Ceron and Ilich Lopez. ⑸ The newly elected presidium will perform its duties during its term of office until the end of the unicameral parliamentary system. ⑹ This election is not only a routine personnel change in the Congress, but also has important significance for the future political direction of Peru. ⑺ The composition of the new presidium and its policy guidelines will receive widespread attention both inside and outside Peru.
