U.S. President Trump said in a recent social media post, "During my tenure as President of the United States, the federal government under my leadership has fully intervened to address the serious crime crisis facing Washington, D.C., the nation's capital. Through effective intervention, this city, once ranked among the most dangerous and murder-prone in the United States and even the world, has been transformed into one of the safest in just a few weeks. However, under pressure from radical left-wing Democrats, Mayor Muriel Bowser, who for years has condoned the rampant violent crime in the capital, recently notified the federal government that the Metropolitan Police Department will terminate its cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in deporting dangerous illegal immigrants. If this decision is allowed to take effect, a wave of crime will inevitably return. I solemnly promise to the residents and businesses of Washington, D.C.: Don't worry, I am firmly with you, and this will not be allowed to happen.
