[Visa-free travel policy takes effect today, Russian travel demand to China increases by 15%] Russian travel demand to China increased by 15% in September compared to the end of summer, according to Yelena Serekhova, spokesperson for the OneTwoTrip travel service platform. On September 15, a trial visa-free policy for Russians traveling to China officially took effect. On September 2, China announced a one-year, 30-day trial visa-free policy for Russians. Serekhova explained that among Chinese cities, Beijing is the most popular destination for Russian tourists, accounting for 25.7% of all air ticket bookings, a year-on-year increase of 15%. Shanghai ranked second with 20.5%, a decrease of 13% from 2024. Guangzhou ranked third with 13.3%, followed by Harbin and Sanya. Serekhova also noted, "The top five cities most popular with tourists in 2024 are Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Harbin, and Hangzhou."
