Moldova's trade deficit widened to $558.1 million in July. (1) Moldova's trade deficit widened to $558.1 million in July from $503.5 million in the same period last year. (2) Exports increased by 21.8% year-on-year to $347 million, primarily driven by a 41.1% increase in sales to EU countries. (3) However, exports to other countries decreased by 17.9%, including a 6.8% drop to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). (4) Imports increased by 14.8% year-on-year to $905.1 million, primarily driven by a 21% increase in purchases from EU countries and an 11.4% increase from other countries. (5) Imports from the CIS decreased by 30.4%. (6) In the first seven months of this year, the country's trade deficit widened to $4.0745 billion from $3.0392 billion in the same period last year.
