GBP/USD Approaches August High, Focus on Fed Risks (⑴ GBP/USD rose to 1.3594 as the dollar weakened ahead of the Fed event; 1.3594 was the monthly high on August 14, and last week's high was 1.3591. ⑵ The market expects the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates by 25 basis points on Wednesday, with another cut expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. The UK will release its August CPI on Wednesday, expected to rise 3.8% year-on-year. The Bank of England may hold interest rates and reduce its balance sheet on Thursday. Trump is visiting the UK this week. ⑶ 1.3570 has become initial support, with the next low at 1.3552.
