Thailand's foreign tourist arrivals fell 7.1% year-on-year in the first eight months. ⑴ From January 1 to September 14, 2025, Thailand welcomed approximately 23 million foreign tourists, a 7.08% decrease compared to the same period last year. ⑵ Malaysia was the largest source country (3.28 million), followed closely by China (3.23 million). ⑶ In August, the national planning agency lowered its full-year foreign tourist forecast from 37 million to 33 million, still below the pre-pandemic record of nearly 40 million in 2019. ⑷ Thailand's GDP grew 2.8% year-on-year in the second quarter, slowing from 3.2% in the first quarter. ⑸ The accommodation and food services sector weakened significantly, with growth slowing from 7.2% in the first quarter to 2.1% in the second quarter, primarily due to a decline in inbound tourism and a slowdown in domestic travel. ⑹ Foreign tourist arrivals reached 7.136 million in the second quarter, a 12.2% year-on-year decrease; domestic tourism grew 2.1%, slowing from 2.6% in the first quarter.
