[Three Fed governors may vote against the meeting in September, the first time since 1988] The U.S. Senate confirmed Milan’s succession to the Fed governor by a narrow margin on Monday, winning one of the 12 votes on the eve of the Fed’s key September policy meeting. Bowman and Waller, the other two Fed governors appointed by Trump during his first term, both voted against the decision to keep interest rates unchanged at the July meeting and supported a rate cut. Analysts say that with weaker-than-expected labor market data, the two may vote against the meeting again in September and support a larger rate cut. Since the beginning of former Chairman Greenspan’s term in 1988, the Fed’s policy decisions have not been opposed by three governors.
