Ukraine's Defense Budget Rise to 27.2% of GDP in 2026 (1) The Ukrainian Prime Minister announced on the 15th that the government has approved the draft state budget for 2026, which will further increase defense spending. (2) According to the draft, total budget expenditures for 2026 will be 4.8 trillion hryvnia (approximately $116.5 billion), of which defense spending will reach 2.8 trillion hryvnia ($68.3 billion), an increase of 168.6 billion hryvnia ($4.1 billion) from the previous year. (3) Defense spending as a percentage of GDP will rise to 27.2%, of which 44.3 billion hryvnia ($1.08 billion) will be allocated to domestic weapons production. (4) The government plans to keep the budget deficit to 18.4% of GDP next year, with external financing requirements expected to reach 2.079 trillion hryvnia ($49 billion).
