BMO Capital Markets: Bank of Canada to cut interest rates by 25 basis points this week. Doug Porter, chief economist at BMO Capital Markets, said Canada's August inflation report was "less than impressive" and would not impact the Bank of Canada's interest rate decision on Wednesday. He expects a 25 basis point rate cut this week, with further cuts expected given the moderate short-term trend in core inflation. The three-month annualized rate of core inflation is 2.5%, well below the annualized rate of approximately 3.1%.
