[Latest poll: More than 70% of Americans agree that "American society is broken"] After the well-known American conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed, a poll of American adults showed that about 63% of respondents believed that the heated way Americans discuss political topics has largely contributed to political violence, and about 71% agreed with the statement that "American society is broken." Reuters reported on the 16th that the online survey conducted by Reuters and polling agency Ipsos Group lasted for three days and ended on the 14th. A total of 1,037 people participated, with an error rate of 3 percentage points. The survey revealed how the entire American society is "exhausted by partisan disputes and worried about the increase in political violence." The survey showed that 66% of people worry that someone in their community will be violently attacked because of their political beliefs. Another 79% of respondents believe that in the past 20 years, Americans have become less and less tolerant of views that differ from their own.
