UK 30-Year Gilt Yields Rise After Bank of England Reduces Pace of Quantitative Tightening: UK 30-Year Gilt Yields Rise After Bank of England Reduces Pace of Quantitative Tightening, Although Less Than Expected. The Bank of England announced plans to reduce its bond holdings by £70 billion over the next 12 months starting in October, down from £100 billion last year. Some analysts, including TD Securities strategists, expect the pace of quantitative tightening to slow significantly, with reductions of between £60 billion and £65 billion. The Bank of England stated that it would tend to increase issuance of short- and medium-term gilts and reduce issuance of long-term gilts. Tradeweb data shows that the UK 30-Year Gilt yield rose from 5.434% to 5.496% after the Bank of England announced its reduction plan.
