Wells Fargo Investment Institute raised its forecast for the S&P 500 due to changes in the economic outlook and earnings trends. It now expects the benchmark index to close between 6,600 and 6,800 points this year, higher than its previous estimate of 6,300 to 6,500 points, and an increase of more than 4% based on the midpoint of the two ranges.
