New Air Cargo Initiative Implemented in Xinjiang Improves Transshipment Cargo Clearance Time by Over 90%] Recently, a new "Airside Direct" model for inbound and outbound cargo has been implemented in Xinjiang. This new initiative has significantly improved customs clearance times for cargo transiting between international and domestic flights. On September 19th, a 30.36-ton batch of export cargo, under the supervision of Urumqi Tianshan Airport Customs, was transported that evening on an all-cargo charter flight to London, England, and Navoi, Uzbekistan. Previously, international cargo arriving via domestic flights required re-security checks upon transit, a journey that took 2-3 hours. However, this cargo, using the "Airside Direct" model, was able to transfer directly through internal channels, completing the transit and arriving at the international cargo terminal in just 30 minutes. Liu Jingyi, Deputy Director of Urumqi Tianshan Airport Customs, stated: "The Airside Direct model has broken down the physical barriers between domestic and international cargo terminals, improving customs clearance times by over 90%."
