The German government plans to raise its economic growth forecasts, bringing its official projections in line with those of the country's leading research institutes, sources familiar with the matter said on Saturday. Economy Minister Katherina Reiche will project 0.2% economic growth in 2025 in her autumn economic forecasts, to be released next week, compared with the previous government's forecast of zero growth. The ministry now expects economic growth of 1.3% in 2026 and 1.4% in 2027, the sources said. These revised figures are in line with forecasts released last month by leading German research institutes, which warned that the German economy's expected rebound, fueled by rapid fiscal expansion, would be temporary unless the government addressed underlying problems.
