[World's First Zero-Fossil Steel Waterlock Launched, Reducing 200 Tons of CO2 Emissions] ⑴ Vattenfall and SSAB have signed an agreement to purchase 120 tons of zero-fossil steel for the manufacture of the world's first zero-fossil steel waterlock. ⑵ This 21-meter-wide and 11-meter-high waterlock will be the largest steel structure with near-zero fossil CO2 emissions in iron ore production and is scheduled to be installed at the Stornofors Hydropower Station in 2028. ⑶ The fossil-free steelmaking process using HYBRIT technology almost completely eliminates CO2 emissions from steel production, and this project is expected to achieve approximately 200 tons of carbon emissions reductions. ⑷ This order marks a significant step forward in the deepening cooperation between the two parties since 2023, aiming to promote the development of a fossil-free value chain and extend the hydropower station's 100-year service life.
