[Government shutdown leads to suspension of food aid, multiple US states file lawsuit] On October 28, a coalition of US Democratic-led states filed a lawsuit to prevent the Trump administration from suspending food aid benefits starting November 1st during the ongoing US government shutdown. It is reported that after the US Department of Agriculture stated that it would not use $6 billion in emergency funds to pay for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (also known as food stamps) benefits, attorneys general and governors from 25 states and the District of Columbia filed a lawsuit in the Boston federal court.
