[Austria's October Manufacturing PMI Rises to 48.8] ⑴ The Austrian UniCredit Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) rose to 48.8 in October from 47.6 in September. ⑵ Output increased for the third time in four months, as companies maintained production levels by processing backlogged orders. ⑶ New orders declined only slightly, marking the slowest contraction in three and a half years, with initial signs of improvement in domestic and international demand. ⑷ Export sales showed a similar trend, declining slightly amid signals of stable demand from major European trading partners. ⑸ Employment contracted at a faster pace, the sharpest decline since March, as manufacturers continued to adjust their workforce based on overall workload reductions. ⑹ Business confidence improved significantly, reaching its highest level since early 2022, mainly due to expectations of a gradual recovery in domestic and international market conditions.
