[India's Sensex Hits One-Year High, Energy and Metals Stocks Lead Gains] ⑴ India's Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex closed up 0.4% at 84,997 points on Wednesday, its highest closing level since September 2024, rebounding from yesterday's decline. ⑵ Energy and metals stocks led the gains, primarily driven by optimism surrounding trade negotiations. ⑶ Market sentiment also benefited from strong domestic data, continued foreign capital inflows, and expectations of a Federal Reserve rate cut. ⑷ Tuesday's data showed that India's industrial production grew by 4% year-on-year in September 2025, significantly higher than the market expectation of 2.6%. ⑸ Reports that US President Trump may soon finalize a long-delayed trade agreement with India further boosted the market. ⑹ In terms of individual stocks, National Thermal Power, Grid Corporation of India, Adani Ports, HCL Technology, and Tata Steel led the gains, with increases ranging from 1.7% to 3.1%. ⑺ Bharat Electronics, Eternal, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, and Bajaji Financial lagged behind, with declines ranging from 0.9% to 1.4%.
