[One Extravehicular Activity Suit, Used Over 20 Times in Orbit, is About to Retire] This morning (October 30th), a press conference for the Shenzhou-21 manned spaceflight mission was held at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. The spokesperson introduced that the two extravehicular activity suits carried aboard the Tianzhou-9 cargo spacecraft have been optimized and improved compared to previous suits, while ensuring safety and reliability. These improvements include enhanced thermal comfort, human-machine interface, and operational safety, making them more comfortable and convenient for astronauts to wear. Currently, one extravehicular activity suit in orbit has been used more than 20 times. Researchers achieved in-orbit life extension based on the design target of 15 uses over 3 years. This is the first extravehicular activity suit to undergo life assessment and life extension in orbit, effectively verifying the correctness of the extravehicular activity suit health monitoring and assessment model and methods. The suit is no longer planned for use in future extravehicular activities, but detailed testing and research will be conducted on its key materials and characteristic parameters.
