[Six Chinese Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems Awarded by FAO] On October 31, the awarding ceremony for Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems, hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), was held in Rome, the capital of Italy. This event was part of a series of activities commemorating the FAO's 80th anniversary, and it focused on awarding and exchanging information on newly recognized Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems since 2023. Representatives from governments, businesses, and farmers from 14 countries and 28 agricultural heritage sites participated in the event. Six Chinese heritage sites were awarded FAO designations: the Kuancheng Traditional Chestnut Cultivation System in Hebei Province, the Tongling White Ginger Planting System in Anhui Province, the Xianju Ancient Yangmei Integrated Farming System in Zhejiang Province, the Shichuan Ancient Pear Orchard System in Gaolan County, Gansu Province, the Deqing Freshwater Pearl Integrated Farming System in Zhejiang Province, and the Fuding White Tea Culture System in Fujian Province. To date, there are a total of 102 Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems, of which China has 25, ranking first in the world. (Xinhua)
