JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon reiterated his opposition to remote work this week, rejecting a petition from 2,000 employees for a hybrid work arrangement. He argued that face-to-face collaboration is crucial for career development, stating, "I'm not making fun of Zoom, but young people are falling behind." He also noted that looking back on one's career reveals the significant lessons learned from apprenticeships, such as participating in sales visits with others and receiving guidance on how to handle mistakes—things that don't happen with Zoom remote work. The petition, which garnered over 2,000 signatures by 2025 and reached Dimon's desk, called the bank's decision to terminate the hybrid work arrangement "a huge step backward," damaging "the reputation of employees, customers, shareholders, and the company." JPMorgan Chase will cancel the hybrid work arrangement in January 2025, requiring its more than 300,000 employees worldwide to return to the office five days a week by March.
