On October 30, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Ryoma Akazawa in Gyeongju, South Korea. The two sides exchanged views on China-Japan economic and trade relations. Wang Wentao stated that unilateralism and protectionism are currently impacting the international economic and trade order, and both sides should work together to make good use of mechanisms such as export control dialogue to jointly maintain the stability and smooth flow of industrial and supply chains. China urges Japan to remove relevant Chinese entities from the export control end-user list as soon as possible. China hopes that both sides will jointly uphold the multilateral trading system with the WTO at its core, promote regional economic cooperation, and inject more stability into the world economy. Akazawa stated that Japan attaches importance to developing economic and trade relations with China and is willing to build a constructive and stable relationship with China, actively conduct policy dialogue, enhance mutual understanding and trust, expand pragmatic cooperation, and jointly safeguard the rules-based international economic order.
