On November 2nd, at the 2025 Private Enterprise Sustainable Development and Risk Management Forum, Ban Ki-moon, the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia, stated that a company's ability to be passed down through generations is also a standard for measuring its success, and that business succession planning should be elevated to the core level of corporate strategy. He stated that measuring corporate success should not only focus on scale, but also on whether it can pass on its entrepreneurial spirit, social responsibility, and excellent governance structure from generation to generation—this is the meaning of "sustainable succession." Ban Ki-moon put forward three expectations: first, he hoped that entrepreneurs would elevate business succession planning to the core level of corporate strategy and institutionalize and professionally manage risks; second, he hoped that professional institutions would continue to play a bridging role, providing forward-looking solutions for family businesses; and third, he hoped that everyone would actively play a leading role in promoting a favorable ecosystem that supports the healthy succession of private enterprises. He also stated that the future is not a gift bestowed by fate, but the result of joint efforts; choosing a more responsible succession means choosing a more stable and prosperous future.
