On November 2, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking at his weekly cabinet meeting, addressed the renewed controversy surrounding the leaked video of the Israeli military abusing prisoners, stating that it had caused "enormous (reputational) damage" to Israel and the Israeli military, and was perhaps "the most serious blow to public opinion" since the founding of the state. He called for an "independent and impartial investigation" and expressed his expectation that the investigation would be carried out effectively.
