[US Regulators: More Complaints Received About Tesla Door Handles] November 3rd news: US auto safety regulators disclosed that they received more complaints from Tesla consumers in recent days. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) sent a letter to Tesla on October 27th regarding an investigation into potential defects in some Tesla door handles. The letter mentioned that owners of the popular Model Y reported low-voltage battery issues causing the exterior door handles to malfunction, sometimes even locking children inside the vehicle. The NHTSA requested information from Tesla regarding the 2021 Model Y under investigation and information about "similar vehicles." The agency requested Tesla to disclose the number of consumer complaints received related to the alleged defect, reports of collisions, fires, and injuries, as well as information on lawsuits and arbitration proceedings related to door opening problems. The NHTSA launched its investigation into this defect on September 15th and received seven more complaints within 10 days of initiating the investigation. According to the letter, Tesla should submit a response to the agency by December 10th.
