[Ministry of Natural Resources: Marine GDP Reaches 7.9 Trillion Yuan in First Three Quarters, Up 5.6% Year-on-Year] The Ministry of Natural Resources announced that the marine economy showed steady progress in the first three quarters. Preliminary calculations show that the gross marine product (GDP) reached 7.9 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.6%. The approved area for sea and island use nationwide reached 262,000 hectares, a year-on-year increase of 19.2%, with projects involving an investment of 641.9 billion yuan. Offshore crude oil and natural gas production increased by 3.0% and 17.7% year-on-year, respectively, while newly connected offshore wind power capacity increased by 42.1% year-on-year. National marine aquatic product output increased by 4.8% year-on-year. The delivery of marine engineering equipment and the order backlog increased by 13.6% and 7.0% year-on-year, respectively. An official from the Department of Marine Strategy Planning and Economy of the Ministry of Natural Resources stated that in the next stage, efforts will be made to accelerate marine science and technology innovation and industrial upgrading, vigorously cultivate new types of marine productivity, promote new achievements in the high-quality development of my country's marine economy, and contribute to the construction of a maritime power.
