[European Stocks Open November with Moderate Gains] ⑴ European stocks opened November slightly higher, with both the STOXX 50 and STOXX 600 indices rising 0.2%, continuing their near-record closing trend from October. ⑵ The banking and automaking sectors performed strongly, with UniCredit, Bilbao Biscayne, and Deutsche Bank all rising more than 1%, while Mercedes-Benz and BMW also rose more than 1%. ⑶ BP rose 1.5% after agreeing to sell a stake in its US shale assets to Sixth Street for $1.5 billion. ⑷ Nokia shares rose nearly 4%. ⑸ Ryanair fell nearly 2%, despite slightly exceeding expectations in after-tax profits, but stated that it was too early to provide detailed earnings guidance. ⑹ BNP Paribas fell 1.4%, ranking among the worst-performing stocks.
