[Global Interest Rate Rift: Who's at the Eye of the Storm?] ⑴ The yield on the US two-year Treasury note reached 3.588%, 160.1 basis points higher than the German equivalent, but only 1.2 basis points lower than the Australian yield. ⑵ Japan's two-year yield was only 0.917%, the lowest among major economies globally, 267.2 basis points lower than the US. ⑶ Germany's ten-year yield was 2.640%, 144.6 basis points lower than the US equivalent, but still 98.1 basis points higher than Japan's. ⑷ UK bond yields were significantly higher, with two-year and ten-year yields reaching 3.764% and 4.405% respectively, both higher than the US levels. ⑸ Significant divergence emerged within Europe, with Italy's ten-year yield 71.7 basis points higher than Germany's, while Denmark's yield was 12.7 basis points lower than Germany's. (6) Australian short-term yields were roughly in line with those in the US, but the 10-year spread widened to 26.1 basis points, indicating a difference in term structure. (7) Swedish yields were lower than German yields across all maturities, with the 2-year and 10-year spreads at -6.9 and -3.1 basis points, respectively.
