[US May Close Airspace Due to Government Shutdown] The US federal government shutdown has lasted 34 days. US Transportation Secretary Duffy told US media today (November 3) that if he believes the shutdown is making US air travel unsafe, the government will shut down the US aviation system. Duffy said, "If we feel [the shutdown] is making it unsafe… we will close the entire airspace. We will not allow people to travel. We haven't reached that point yet; at this stage, there are only serious delays. But during a continued government shutdown, there are definitely more risks." (CCTV International News)
