In his remarks on Tuesday, Federal Reserve Chairman Warsh made it clear that he places equal importance on the Fed's employment and inflation goals, a point he has repeatedly emphasized since assuming the chairmanship. Speaking to the House Financial Services Committee, Warsh stated, "None of the responsibilities entrusted to us are being neglected. Price stability and full employment are not mutually exclusive; I will do everything in my power to achieve both simultaneously." When subsequently asked whether he would be willing to implement targeted measures to narrow the gap in unemployment and job opportunities between Black and white populations, Warsh responded, "The United States cannot afford to leave any group behind. Economic opportunity plays a crucial role in the direction of American growth over the next five to ten years, which requires every American to have the opportunity to unleash their productivity."
