Nakaso, former deputy governor of the Bank of Japan, said: "The US dollar will continue to maintain its dominance as a major global currency, but as investors turn to other currencies, the dollar may show "cracks". Once confidence is restored that the economy and inflation will meet expectations, the Bank of Japan may return to the right track for the next interest rate hike. The Bank of Japan must be vigilant about the upside risk of inflation, as rising food prices may cause inflation expectations to exceed the target."
