People familiar with the matter revealed that the US proposed two options: negotiate with the military government to promote a ceasefire in Kachin, or cooperate directly with the Kachin Independence Army. The US proposals include lowering tariffs, lifting some sanctions, and establishing an alternative supply chain with India, but experts point out that transportation conditions are poor. It is worth noting that the leader of the military government, Min Aung Hlaing, recently wrote to Trump asking for the easing of sanctions. Although the US lifted some sanctions, it denied a policy shift.
