IMF Raises Global and Chinese Economic Growth Forecasts: ⑴ The IMF's latest World Economic Outlook raises its global economic growth forecasts by 0.2 percentage points to 3.0% in 2024 and by 0.1 percentage points to 3.1% in 2025. ⑵ China's economic growth forecast is significantly raised by 0.8 percentage points to 4.8%, primarily due to better-than-expected economic performance in the first half of the year and lower actual tariffs between China and the United States than previously forecast. ⑶ The IMF notes that the global trade environment remains uncertain. While progress in negotiations is supporting economic resilience, overall tariff levels remain historically high.
