On July 30th, local time, the White House announced that US President Trump signed an executive order imposing a 40% tariff on Brazil, bringing the total tariff to 50%. The tariffs do not include certain wood pulp and petroleum products, some fertilizers, energy and energy products, pig iron, and precious metals. The US said the new tariffs on Brazilian imports will take effect in seven days. Previously, Trump announced that a 50% tariff would be imposed on Brazilian imports starting August 1st. (Refinitiv)
