[IATA: Passenger demand growth slowed to 2.6% in June] On August 1, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) released regular data on global air passenger demand in June 2025, showing a year-on-year increase of 2.6% in total air passenger demand. Total capacity increased by 3.4% year-on-year. The load factor in June was 84.5%, a year-on-year decrease of 0.6 percentage points. Willie Walsh, Director General of IATA, said: "Air travel demand in June was affected by the military conflict in the Middle East and the growth rate was slower than in previous months. As demand lags behind capacity growth, global load factors have fallen from historical highs, but are still very strong. Capacity is expected to increase slightly by 1.8% in August, and load factors during the northern hemisphere summer tourist season are unlikely to deviate from recent historical highs."
