[A section of railway cable duct in northern Germany caught fire, suspected to be arson] On July 31, local time, the railway between the northern German cities of Düsseldorf and Duisburg was interrupted due to a fire in one of the cable ducts. Later that day, someone posted a letter online admitting to intentionally setting fire to the cables in the section where the accident occurred. The police are currently investigating the authenticity of the letter and searching for the perpetrators. The section where the accident occurred is one of the busiest sections of the German railway, with about 800 passenger trains passing through every day. Trains to major cities such as Frankfurt, Berlin and Amsterdam in the Netherlands all pass through here. This incident has caused a large number of train services to be delayed or cancelled.
