US imposes 40% tariffs on Laos and Myanmar imports. (1) US President Trump's latest tariff plan imposes a 40% tariff on goods imported from Laos and Myanmar, a rate second only to Syria's 41%. Myanmar's trade with the US was $734 million in 2024 (still subject to sanctions stemming from the 2021 coup), with Laos exporting $803.3 million and importing $40.4 million.
