French Manufacturing PMI Continues to Shrink in July: ⑴ France's manufacturing PMI for July came in at 48.2, slightly lower than the preliminary reading of 48.4 and roughly unchanged from 48.1 in June. ⑵ The reading remained below the 50-point mark for several consecutive months, indicating continued weakness in the manufacturing sector. ⑶ A sharp decline in new orders, weighed down by weak domestic demand and declining exports, put pressure on production. ⑷ The business confidence index fell to its lowest level since February.
