[Russian pipeline natural gas exports to Europe surge 37%: TurkStream becomes sole route to Europe, supply recovery draws attention!] ⑴ On Friday (August 1st, Beijing time), Reuters calculations showed that Russian energy giant Gazprom's average daily natural gas supplies to Europe increased by 37% month-on-month in July. ⑵ This followed a reduction in June due to maintenance work. ⑶ After Ukraine chose not to extend its five-year transit agreement with Moscow, the TurkStream submarine pipeline has become the sole transit route for Russian natural gas to Europe. ⑷ Data from European gas transmission group Entsog shows that Russian natural gas exports via the TurkStream pipeline increased from 37.6 million cubic meters per day in June to 51.5 million cubic meters per day in July. ⑸ This figure is 4.7% higher than the 49.2 million cubic meters per day in July 2024. (6) According to Reuters calculations, total Russian natural gas supplies to Europe via the TurkStream pipeline in the first half of this year were approximately 9.93 billion cubic meters, compared to 9.3 billion cubic meters in the same period last year. (7) Gazprom has not published monthly statistics since the beginning of 2023 and did not respond to requests for comment. (8) At its peak in 2018-2019, annual Russian natural gas flows to Europe reached 175 to 180 billion cubic meters.
