[Overall U.S. consumer confidence has rebounded, but confidence in the labor market outlook is lower than last year] A survey by the University of Michigan in the United States showed that although overall confidence rebounded in July, the outlook for the labor market is still lower than last year. About 57% of respondents expect the unemployment rate to rise, higher than 35% in the same period last year. The University of Michigan survey also showed that consumers are still skeptical about whether the risk of accelerating inflation has passed. The survey director said, "At the same time, consumers' expectations for the business environment remain pessimistic, concerns about unemployment remain high, and importantly, they believe they may be affected. Although the situation has improved recently, this combination of mentality means that spending may slow down as consumers may adopt more cautious financial behavior due to risk expectations." The survey also showed that the current situation index rose to a six-month high of 68, while the expectations index fell to 57.7.
