On August 1, local time, UNICEF Deputy Executive Director Ted Chaiban stated that children in the Gaza Strip are facing an "unprecedented rate of death" and a severe humanitarian crisis, calling on the international community to take immediate action to prevent a full-scale famine. Although the blockade has been eased and UNICEF has 1,500 trucks loaded with food, milk powder, and hygiene products ready to enter Gaza, only a small amount of supplies has been allowed through, far from meeting the needs.
