Ebury analyst Samuel Edwards commented on the UK GDP data: "This data is another blow to the government ahead of the November Autumn Budget. Recent weak data coupled with the threat of tax increases will "likely dampen any hopes of economic recovery in the second half of the year." The UK National Statistics Office also reported that manufacturing and industrial output unexpectedly declined in July, and the three-month trade deficit widened to £10.3 billion."
