Bulgaria's trade deficit hit a three-month high in July. (1) Bulgaria's trade deficit reached 1.5908 billion levs in July 2025, a significant increase from 544.7 million levs in the same period last year, marking the highest deficit since April. (2) Exports fell 13.2% year-on-year to 7.164 billion levs, with exports to the EU plummeting 21.1% and exports to non-EU countries increasing by only 1%. (3) Imports fell slightly by 0.5% to 8.7548 billion levs, with imports from non-EU countries falling 3% and imports from EU countries increasing 1.5%. (4) The cumulative trade deficit widened to 10.5453 billion levs from January to July this year, compared to 6.0449 billion levs in the same period last year. (5) During this period, exports fell 4.8% year-on-year, while imports rose 3.6%.
