[Reuters Poll: Bank of England to Hold Interest Rates Next Week and Cut in Q4] According to a Reuters poll of economists, the Bank of England will hold its key policy rate steady on September 18th, as inflation is gradually rising. However, a majority expect the bank to cut rates once in the next quarter and again early next year. However, a growing minority of economists believe the Bank of England's rate-cutting cycle has run its course for this year. The Bank of England forecasts inflation to reach 4% in September and not return to its target until mid-2027. In the September 8-11 poll, all 67 economists expected the Bank of England to hold Bank Rate at 4.00% on September 18th. Forty-two of them predicted a 25 basis point cut in the next quarter, while three predicted a 50 basis point cut in the fourth quarter. However, over 30% of respondents (22) believed Bank Rate would remain unchanged for the rest of the year, compared to just 15% in August.
