ING: The US dollar could weaken if the Fed resumes rate cuts next week. Chris Turner of ING said in a report that the US dollar could weaken if the Federal Reserve resumes rate cuts next week, although such a move has been largely priced in by the market. Lower financing costs would encourage investors to seek more protection through hedging to avoid the risk of currency depreciation, further triggering a sell-off in the US dollar. Data from the London Stock Exchange showed that the market expects a nearly 93% probability of a 25 basis point rate cut by the Federal Reserve at its September 17 meeting. The Fed is expected to cut interest rates by approximately 71 basis points by the end of 2025 and by 142 basis points by the end of 2026. The US dollar index rose 0.117% to 97.689.
