On September 12, local time, a spokesperson for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced that an officer shot and killed a man who resisted arrest. ICE stated that on the morning of that day, officers were conducting a vehicle interception in the Chicago suburbs when a man resisted arrest and attempted to drive his car into the arrest team, dragging the officers for a "significant distance." The officer, fearing for his own life, shot the man who resisted arrest. Both the officer and the man received "immediate" medical treatment. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital, and the officer is in serious but stable condition.
