[A U.S. federal appeals court ruled that the Trump administration's revocation of the status of hundreds of thousands of immigrants is valid] On September 12, local time, a U.S. federal appeals court rejected the appeal of immigration rights advocates against the Trump administration's revocation of the temporary legal status of hundreds of thousands of Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan and Venezuelan immigrants. The Boston-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit overturned the ruling of federal district judge Indira Talwani. Talwani had previously determined that Homeland Security Secretary Noem had no authority to terminate the immigration "parole" status of approximately 430,000 immigrants who were granted during the tenure of former Democratic President Biden. Gustavo Gelpí, the chief judge of the panel, said that the plaintiff's lawyers failed to fully prove that Noem lacked the power granted by the Immigration and Nationality Act and therefore could not terminate their parole in full.
